WRMC is experimenting with video recordings and has not yet decided how those will be utilized. If the recordings are able to turn into high-quality learning, they will be made available to conference attendees at no additional cost through the conference app Sched. The core objective of the Wilderness Risk Management Conference (WRMC) is to offer an outstanding educational experience to help you mitigate the risks inherent in exploring, working, teaching, and recreating in wild places. The WRMC is a collaboration between NOLS, Outward Bound USA, and the Student Conservation Association, in partnership with the WRMC Steering Committee. See the guiding purpose and tenets.
Dinner is included in your conference registration from 6:30-7:30pm followed by the Keynote Presentation from Joshua Morris.
For 18 days in the month of July, 12 boys and their coach were trapped inside a flooded cave. The rescuers faced challenging conditions unlike anything ever experienced before. With a unique behind the scenes perspective, Josh’s illustrated talk will highlight key decisions made during the course of this mission which ultimately led to its success. Josh will explore how risk management played a significant role during a crisis and share how cross cultural and outdoor education provided him and his team with the necessary skills to play a key role in the rescue.
